Rosie had worms bad when I got her. And then one more time since then. I didn't have to take her in either. Just called my vet and said I saw them. They gave me meds and all was good!!! As far as the over the counter de wormer, in the past DH has used them on outside dogs. However, I also ended up calling the vet anyway. Just didn't seem to cut it and get rid of all the worms. So I would just call my vet.
