Plain ignorance which should be ignored. When you are widowed and remarry...are you "replacing" your husband/wife? I think I would say, "No, I'm not replacing Choppa, I'm opening up my heart to another dog while I wait/continue to hope for him to find his way home."....After all, wouldn't you take him back if even after you got a new puppy, he appeared?
