This seems to be a Yorkie thing
My guys are afraid of bowls and dishes as well
Paper plates are fine but if you want him to eat from a bowl just try this trick if you're up for it
Take the bowl and either make believe that you're eating from it or actually put some things that you know he likes ... treats and things and leave it out for him
He'll likely explore at his own leisure
