Of course you have to give the puppy back....you essentially stole the dog! If you are going to do business with someone you KNOW is unethical, unscrupulous, and unreputable, you have to follow HER rules. If she is giving her dogs away, great....but if she is SELLING her dogs, and you INTENTIONALLY WRITE HER A HOT CHECK, you are the one that is going to get in trouble for this. You have stolen a dog from someone!....and you have used a "federal document", your check, to do it!!! THIS IS NOT THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM!!! YOU HAVE PUT THE LAW ON HER SIDE WITH WHAT YOU HAVE DONE, regardless of why you did it! "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions"!
