Pretty much all dogs will eat any cat's poop. Cats eat a very high protein diet, and leave behind high protein doggie treats.
It's not as clear why dogs eat their own poop. If they eat their food too fast, they might not fully digest all the protein, once again leaving behind tasty, high protein poops.Or if their diet is unbalanced, they may look for nutrients in unlikely sources.
And bottom line, dogs are just more into poop than people are, and may decide that it's a fun toy, fun to roll around in, and/or fun to eat. We might feel differently ourselves if candy canes came out of our butts.
