I am posting this here in hopes that the breeder members of this forum, if not alerted to this new regulation, will now be! The link above takes you to my post in the Animal Protection and Welfare Forum.
This will affect you if you sell even one puppy "sight unseen". That being where the actual buyer does NOT come to your home, to see the puppy prior purchase.
This is a Federal Regulation, and therefor will cover all States.
If you want to sell puppies sight unseen, you will be required to be licensed like all the USDA breeders, keep puppies in kennels etc, etc, all the reg's that the current high volumne breeders are subject to.
This legislation in my opinion does nothing to protect the public, and who is going to be hurt by this are you guessed, the high quality low volumne hobby breeders.
It will particularly hurt our rare breeds, where due to their very rarity, often times their are not qualified buyers with-in a reasonable travel distance. Forget about meeting buyers at shows, where they can see your breeding dogs, and at a later time, meeting the buyer at another show to drop off your puppy! You will come under this regulation!
