I think the reason I'm so nervous is because I really feel like the first time around I DID research! I talked to the breeders for a good 7 months through email and phone before buying! Instead of having them ship him, I DROVE 7 hrs each way to pick him up at their home! I met them! I saw where they kept the puppies! They answered all my questions! They even answered my phone call and kept me calm and walked me thru everything when just 20 minutes after I left my Oliver started throwing up in the car on the way home! It wasn't until I called them with the bad news of Giardia and kennel cough that they started avoiding me. Then when I finally received his AKC papers (after asking a million times for them) he wasn't even bred by them! He came from Missouri! I was SO shocked because they told me THEY were the breeders and even had his "mom and dad" on site!! Anyways, I really feel like I did everything you are supposed to do the first time. I guess this time I will just do the same, and ask around even more! What else can I do? |
Sounds like you did a great job and are covering your bases! Unfortunately, Breeders are well aware of what potential parents are looking for and hide as much as they can. Im sorry for your experience. From here it sounds like all you can do is cross your fingers and PRAY for a gut feeling when you meet these people. Im sure your going to be tuned into small signs. Its hard because when you first go to get your baby you tend to be in love and are overwhelmed with that feeling so signs are easily missed. Even more sometimes signs arent even there but hidden! Judging by your posts your doing everything you can. I wish you all the best luck and keep us posted on your search!!
