Question Changing Puppy's Food

Zachary is 16 weeks old today. The breeder had him on Puppy Chow when we got him which we have kept giving him. His stool is never firm, always a bit soft.

Our other 5 dogs, depending on age/health, eat only the best food. The ones that don't have a weight problem eat Origen. I feel that keeping them on good food from the beginning will help prevent health problems in the future.

I knew better to try anything like Origen on Zachary. It is too rich. My Japanese Chin eats the puppy food but he has a cast iron stomach. So we bought some Blue Buffalo Small Breed Puppy for Zach.

We started out giving him just a few pieces mixed in with his old food. We got up to 1/4-3/4 in about 5 days and he has started having VERY loose poop. He was out in his doggier carrier/purse with George and I today and had a good case of diarrhea....what a mess....two baths in 3 days.

Any suggestions on what to feed him? I think Puppy Chow is junk and I hate having him eat it. But, even something like Blue Buffalo, which is NOT at the top of the list, gives him tummy problems. We have had Zachary for about 3 weeks now.

Thanks,
Louise
