Not just a boy thing....my girls are the same way.
If I leave a room and shut the door behind me, my Izzy will jump up and down, scratching the door and yelping with each jump. I try to explain to her that it was merely a quick snack run to the kitchen, but she is so beside herself excited to see me again that she hears none of it.
