Interesting question
Cali has had her chip for 2 years now and I can't even feel it any more. I use Revolution, but it is applied the same way and never has any problems. If your chip is recent you might be careful if that spot is tender. Probably go a little above or below the chip location. Other than that it should not be a problem.
