The tape worms do not show up under microscopic exam. The tape worms will let out segments occasionally. Sometimes you will see them in the stool and sometimes it will look like dried rice or some sort of whitish dried substance around the back end. I would call the vet and tell them that she was seriously infested with fleas when you first got her and are concerned about tape worms. It is a one pill treatment. I don't remember if you said that you had flea medication for her. I hope so as the season has already started and you don't want her exposed to all the issues they cause again.
I'm glad she is perking up for you. A life change at that change can be scary at first. Hopefully she will start to enjoy a loving home and a parasite free life!
