No experience with this situation with Tatum (our Yorkie) but with Dax (our poodle - RIP), we had serious breath issues. His teeth were really bad though and even though we had cleanings every few years, they still had to pull teeth occasionally. When the smell would get really bad, that usually indicated that a tooth or two was rotting and needed to come out. I know that can be scary but he went through the "surgeries" with flying colors every time - even when he got older and had heart issues he was on medication for. I'm just wondering if Chewy's problem is rotten teeth maybe? If so, it's definitely something to take care of because the infection can spread into their blood system. Good luck.
