Louie started with an occasional yelp and seemed a little unsteady in the rear- told it was patella- grade 1 and surgery not recommended yet. Anyway, you know how you know your puppy- we were out of state for a month and one morning he wouldn't get up. Went to vet there & she thought muscle strain, NSAIDs for 5 days. We got back home and he just seemed worse. Looked like a shepherd with hip dysplasia- back end dropping low, would rock to sit, limping, ANYWAY (sorry so long) asked my vet here to please look at him further- turns out he has Leggs calves perthes and is having surgery today. I wish I'd pushed harder and requested hip X-rays when I had that 'gut feeling' that this was more than a patella- simply because he wouldn't have had to hurt as long. Should be hearing from vet soon- can't believe how anxious I feel. I've never had a small dog before and I just really, really love him!!
Hi BeeZee....so sorry this has happened to your precious little one. I send prayers your way for a smooth and uneventful recovery. Welcome to the board!
