I was single and about 30 and had the urge for a lifestyle change. Since I had a sales job where I traveled almost weekly by airplane I wanted a dog I could take with me. This was before the internet and lots of airport security. I did not grow up with dogs and hardly knew any so did not know much about breeds. I think I had a yorkie pictured in my mind but thought it was s**tzu. I got some books out of the library (LOL before the internet!) and then realized it was the yorkie I was after. I also checked with the airlines about dog size and found the yorkie size would work so that's why I got Reggie, I think I picked a boy because he was cheaper. He traveled all over with me by air, it used to cost only $15.00 each way, but then I also started sneaking him aboard. He when on sales calls with me, he went to the homes of customers and my reps, ski vacations, Florida Vacations, home to NY for the hoidays. I doubt there was a pup that flew to more states. Lots of funny things happened, like when the maid thought he was attacking her in a hotel room, she jumped on the bed and started throwing pillows at him then called security who had to come rescue her from my 5 lb boy. He once got on an elevator at a downtown Chicago hotel that some how I missed getting on he rode up over 25 stories. LOL thankfully he did not get off until he came back to the lobby. He rode up on a chair lift to the top of Aspen Mountain, rode on the Gondola at Steamboat, rode to the top of the Arch in St Louis, dined at the River Walk in San Antonio, strolled down 5th ave in NY and Rodeo Drive in CA, he had a good life and travel seemed to agree with him, he was a barker at home and when he saw other dogs, but for some strange reason never when left alone in a hotel room. Then I stopped traveling for work and got two yorkies, which was fun, but it was not as easy to take 2 everywhere. It's one of the reasons I went back to having just one. Now Lola travels by plane with me, only I don't go as much. |
