Honestly? I didn't really know anything about them. I was looking for a smallish non shedding breed due to living with my stepdad still who has allergies. For some reason, I pictured Yorkies kind of how Jackson is (way out of standard for a yorkie, LOL) and it wasn't until I saw some at the dog park and on this website how TINY they were and I was like, oh is that what he's supposed to look like?! haha. I was pretty clueless. Definitely should have researched the breed a lot more - but I am sooo happy with him, and I'm not sure I'd ever be so lucky to get another like him. I am not sure I will have Yorkies in the future. In reality, a Yorkie (per breed standard) is not really what I look for in a dog per say. I don't like long hair, I don't enjoy grooming, I won't ever have a dog in a purse or a stroller, or in a topknot, LoL... so I guess I'm in the wrong breed. But I always notice them in public now, and pay attention when a Yorkie is on TV or something, and they've definitely captured my heart. I am just not sure I'd ever seek out a purebred Yorkie in the future. I am almost sure however I will have a Silky Terrier.
