My little guy is 4 1/2 months. His coat has never matted. And I only brush him when he gets a bath. Is there a difference in textures? His coat is very bushy and wild. He always looks like he just rolled out of bed.
I see a lot of puppies that have the very glossy coat also. Mines more like a puffball.
