It takes about 6 months... are a little longer for pups to have good control of their bladders..etc.
You might try to get an XPen put a peice of Linoleum or Vinyl under it.
or a room without carpet and use a baby gate.
Put the crate in the area with
door off for the pup to sleep in, food, water, toys and pee pads at the other end.
You will both be a lot happier and you will not have to get up in the middle of the nite.
This is also great to use when you are not at home or busy.
It keeps them safe. Just be sure to remove anything around the neck, clothes or harness's so the pup can not get caught on anything an hang itself.
This is how I do mine and we are all very happy..
you can work on the potty trainning throught the daytime.
