Default Knee issues

howdy everyone

i need some help / advice

yesterday my 9 yr old yorkie was jumping off the couch. just like he has several times. i have steps for the couch and bed that he uses, but if he gets excited sometimes, from the couch he will just jump off.

all i heard was a scream and I came to him and he was holding his back leg up. I took him to the emergency vet and he has dislocated his knee, tore ligaments, pulled tissue at the hip.

he is going to see a specialists / vet that can do surgery on his leg.

if he doesnt have the surgery, he will be putting so much pressure on his other leg, that in a short time that leg will get so much arthritis that it wont be able to handle the pressure of supporting him and then both legs will require surgery.

of course, if this surgery he needs for the one that is hurt now, if it requires a lot of money....there wont be another option.

has anyone else been through this recently? if so, how much did it costs?

my dog , his name is Harley, has never had anything like this happen to him before and I am really scared / nervous.

he has pain medicine to last him until he sees the vet on tuesday.
