My puppy's hair was the "hair from hell," and I cut it off as quickly as possible. It was thin, oily, seemed almost glued together - and I couldn't get a comb through it.

By the time he was three months old - all of his puppy hair had grown out and had been cut off and a beautiful new coat of silver/tan hair replaced it. He has a short cut now. But his new hair is straight/wavy, thicker, not oily, easy to comb, and never matts. His hair grows fast and his new hair is close to an inch long now. He looks good!

I do know that my puppy's mother was blonde and his father was silver.

PS: When I got my pup at 8 weeks - his roots were already silver - the new color that was coming in. So - keep an eye on his hair roots and you'll probably be able to see any new colors that are coming through.
