Are you in Torrance CA? If so, regardless of living by the beach, you do have hawks, seagulls and coyotes in the area. Yorkies aren't really "back yard dogs" IMHO. This baby needs to be indoors and socializing with the family, because she also is a family member. I'm not saying she shouldn't go out but she should have proper adult supervision at all times.

p.s. be vigilant with the doggy door and locking it.
