I think it has something to do with the size of the picture. If the picture that you're uploading isn't larger than the thumbnail would be, it just uploads it as an image. Does that make sense? It's hard to explain. The physical size is what I'm talking about. If the physical size of the picture is like 1/4 of an inch by like 1/2 of an inch, and that's smaller than the size of the thumbnail that appears when you upload the picture, then it'll just upload the picture itself and call it an image. There...I think that made more sense. hehehe
