I too have thought about this long and hard Brit - and actually touched on it when I started the thread about my daughter adopting her Labradoodle that was about to be put to sleep - until she rescued it....
Of course no-one could be the same as their 'real mum' - and my parents (who adore Harry) may/may not be around when I go as they're in their 80's. Andy may/may not be around - he has a heart condition.
My son lives in Vienna - my sister works long hours - the obvious choice would be my daughter who obviously is a real animal lover, and Harry and Luka get on brilliantly.
I have had the long, in-depth conversation with her and it has all been agreed. It has also been written into my Will. I have also put a large-ish sum aside (again, to be left from my Estate and is written into my Will) to cover any eventuality plus plenty to keep him in 'the manner to which he is accustomed'!!
I know it wouldn't be the same for him - all we can do is think ahead and try....sad topic, but necessary. Sally + Harry x
