Default Who would take care of your dog...

... if you died?

I know, morbid. But the question popped up on another forum and made me curious. So many dogs are put into shelters when owners die, and it's sooo sad to me when a family member won't take them.

I know my dad would keep him. He would be my first choice. Jackson loves it over at his house, he gets to run around the fenced in yard, swim in the pool, be around his two dogs and my little brother, etc. I'm pretty sure my dad would let him get fat though and not get him enough exercise, but I know he'd be happy and well taken care of (i.e. taken to the vet when needed, etc).

I would never choose to let him stay where we live now (with my mom and stepdad). They are NOT dog people, and would probably forget that he even existed. They do love him and all, but just not the greatest dog owners, and they'll admit it.

If for some unknown reason my dad did not work, which I don't see why it wouldn't, I do have a few other family members who I know would take good care of him (in order: my aunt, my grandma, my uncle). But honestly? I think he would be so lost without me. My dad says whenever I am gone for a few days, if I go away, he's just not the same and he's constantly looking for me. I'm pretty sure he'd be a wreck. We're very attached.
