A good breeder keeps the pups in their home with their mom until they are sold (not just hand them off to someone who will sell them from a cage). If the pup no longer fits in your family for whatever reason, they have a requirement that they MUST take them back so they do not end up in a shelter or some random place. They will have spay/neuter contracts in place. Your dogs parents are thoroughly health checked for any problems your specific breed is prone to. Breeders also love to keep in contact with their puppy buyers, and if nearby, even offer grooming as well as boarding for free. A reputable breeder will most likely be involved in some way in their puppy's lives for the rest of their life. I am sure this place doesn't offer that.
And I am not trying to make you feel bad, or gang up on you at all. I got my dog from a BYB who couldn't even care to email me back when I told her a few months later how happy I was with my dog and sent a picture. So, yeah, granted he was raised in a home and loved while he was there, and with his mama, not in a cage, etc... it's still not a place I would support in the future. Now would I do it all over again to have Jackson? You bet! But I still feel kind of like an idiot for giving her $550 - knowing she made BANK off those pups, and probably just ended up breeding her pet girl again. But live and learn ya know? |
