I have! I was fairly new to running for my first half marathon and made two very stupid mistakes:

1) I did not train. For some reason 13.1 miles didn't seem like THAT far to me. Yeah, right.

2) I ran in brand new shoes. Four words: Shoes SOAKED in blood.

It was a looooong 13 miles and had I realized how badly my foot was hurt (I literally had no skin left on the sole of my right foot) I probably wouldn't have finished. But I did and it was great enough that I've done it many times since then! So DEFINITELY train and wear shoes you've already worn in, lol. A lot of runners load up on carbs before a marathon (usually 60% of your food intake) but I don't think that much is necessary for a half marathon, for other people it is though. You will find what works for you while you're training. Stay hydrated (personally I swear by CytoMax for marathons and any long distance runs) and have fun!
