It is so hard to wait out that awkward in between stages. It is ok to cut it . All of mine get summer cuts. She will probably have a beautiful coat when she is mature. Thin silky coats are so beautiful but most dogs don't get that show look before age 2 or 3. Long hair is a lot of work too. I have four Yorkies and it would take hours to keep them all in long coats.
