Welcome to Yorkietalk and congrats on you new little guy. Its so awesome of you to adopt this little guy. If you are going to home cook for him I would talk to a vet nutritionist about a diet for him and don't forget supplements. You are right about the collar thing although I would still use a collar for just id tags in case he ever got out that is what I do for mine.
