They said that if someone is coming from out of town, they may hold a pup for a couple of hours but it's basically first come, first serve. I do not know yet how I feel about this, but I can see their side.
I do not take deposits on any pups until the potential buyer has seen the puppy and made a commitment. Since I have held pups due to vacations, I will then require a NONREFUNDABLE deposit of 1/2 the purchase price. A statement of account is given, with nonrefundable stated. Until I KNOW what I may keep to show I will not promise pups to anyone. Once I have decided what I will keep and what is being placed, then I will allow people to see the pup available. And, I only allow them to see the pup that is available. I found out years ago that invaribly they want the one not for sale. The buyer is still required to take the puppy to their vet within 72 hrs of purchase, with a full refund if their vet disagrees with any part of my contract or health guarantee. So far, it has worked for me.
