Lucy is 2 years old but I'm an early work-out person too. I get up at 5:00 and leave the house by 5:30. I let both dogs out before I leave; but do not feed them until I get back at about 7:00 am.
There is usually someone with them here all day - so they can go in and out the back yard as they please. It is fenced.
Our walks are saved for evenings; Lucy hates to walk in the hot sun and I don't have time in the mornings. It stays light here until after 9:00 - so we have plenty of time.
I do suggest you peruse the sick and injured section since your pup will be so young; that way you will know the things to watch for - before any heartache can happen. We've seen too many here lately with the very young and small pups.
If your breeder were willing to keep him until he is 12 weeks; that would be ideal for both of you.
I did not free feed Lucy - but she was 12 weeks when she came home and I worked from home - so I could keep a constant eye on her.
