Keeping your baby confined is for her own safety, as well. They can get into so many deadly things when they're little. Some have even chewed electrical cords with disatrous results
You'd be amazed what they can find to eat on the floor even in the cleanest, well kept home. She will potty train much easier as well. Be patient with her, she is very very young and would be getting lessons from her mom if she were still with her.
