I'm so sorry your Chi is sick. We can only guess, and you already know that it is serious. Poison is what comes immediately to mind. How-ever your vet should have talked with you, and asked a whole lot of questions about her recent health.
I will keep you both in my thoughts n prayers. Please let us know how she does.
