One thing to remember is that a lost dog is not a dog that should be turned over to rescue. Animal control should be called so that the owner of the dog can reclaim his/her dog. If I find a dog, it is not a rescue situation....the first thing I do is check for a microchip and notify animal control. If the pup is not claimed at the end of the hold period, our shelter networks with other rescues and also has their own adoption program.

As for rescues not helping people because they are full....most will network with other rescues and do their best to help. We get notifed about yorkies every single day and do our level best to find a placement for them. We don't usually just say no unless it is an area we are not familiar with and we always give people suggestions of how to find a group in their area......we work very hard to find something for that pup.

It is a fact, though, that we cannot save them all.
