I can understand where you would never have thought of sunscreen for dogs. The reason I think of it is because growing up the sun was always a concern for our animals as they can actually burn, especially the animals that are not in the sun on a regular basis like in the house or barn. Since Yorkies are not double coated, I would think they could be especially vulnerable to the sun especially where their hair parts and leaves the skin exposed somewhat. I'm also talking about extended periods of exposure on a boat where the water reflection magnifies. I am always concerned about the sun for me and want my pets to be safe and comfortable if we're going to take them with us.
