The nails are cut and at the wrong angel. You can tell because of the blunt/straight cut. The nails may have been over grown and too long to get them shorter. If cut too short the nail kwik will bleed. I have to admit I too have the same problem with my dogs. I tent to be forgetful when it comes to their nails which leads to overgrown nails. It something I need to work on.
