He is adorable!!! I also am no expert by any means. I do have a dog that is now a year old and has leveled out at 2.8 lbs. She isn't a yorkie though...she is a poodle. But even though she has never had a hypoglycemia episode since I've had her, I still always keep nutri cal in my bag and one at home. She had some episodes during the first 6 months of her life before I had her, but she hasn't had any with me. Just as a precaution (since getting stressed can trigger hypogylcemia in some cases) I give her a little bit of nutri cal prior to going to get groomed, but other than this, I just free feed her during the day. She never eats a whole lot at one time, but she definitely grazes on a few kibbles on an off all day. Because of her weight, my vet has checked her blood sugar levels on a few different occasions because I wanted to make sure it wasn't running borderline low. He told me that she is in good range every time, but he did warn that I should be conscious of making sure she doesn't go extended periods of time without having food available. On those occasions, he said I could use nutrical. But, he also warned against overusing it which can cause a whole slew of issues of its own.

The above link that was posted is great! I had a dog that was 5.5 lbs prior to this, and in the first year of his life at 9months, he had a horrible hypoglycemic incident bc he was put on some antibiotics and wasn't eating well. After that, I will never be without some type of emergency plan in place having these little ones. I had no idea what was happening at the time, and I was horrified as I rushed to get him to the ER vet. That's now been 13 years ago, and I literally never again didn't have karo syrup and now nutri cal with me at all times just in case.

But good luck with your little baby!!! he really is adorable!!!
