My dog had BAT over 107 and she was over the age of 6 at the time she was presumptively diagnosed with MVD.... her age was one of the factors in leaning more toward MVD vs a single portosystemic shunt. We did an ultrasound (conducted by a board certified radiologist) and that showed additional findings supportive of MVD and not PSS. We put her on Hill's LD and repeated the BATs which went way down.
I don't know about the licking as my dog doesn't do that....she does have pica though and licks the floor and tries to eat whatever tidbits of dust or crumbs she finds.
