Welcome to YT. It is perfectly fine to let your dog sleep with you after they are potty trained and when they are old enough to get in and out of the bed (You may need doggy steps)
Why use a Crate ?
I strongly recommend crate training too. But, all dogs must spend some time in a crate, travel, surgery or illness, or in an emergency. If you teach your puppy that the crate is a good, safe place, and their special little private den, they will not be stressed or panic when they have to be in the crate. Personally I think potty training is much easier if a puppy is crate trained first.
