Well you are engaged and therefor should consider your spouse's wishes as well. I do feel it is hard to break the habit of a dog sleeping with you, once you start that. None of our dogs sleep on our beds. They do how-ever get cuddle times on the bed, and then our Yorkie is put into his comfy crate, and the big dogs sleep on the floor.
Really it is up to you and your spouse how you would like to proceed.
