I am just a little confused and want to clarify for other members, do I understand you correctly that you and your vet feel having puppies somehow protects them against certain conditions of the reproductive tract? I am asking because my understanding from my vet is the best protection against many of these problems is spay. My own Moka, who has never even seen a male dog, developed pyometra, a very serious uterine infection and it could have been fatal. This is not a condition that affects only older dogs, as she was only 2 years old. Again, sorry if I have misunderstood your post, but I just want other members to understand that spaying their beloved pets can actually protect them from some of these reproductive illnesses which can be very serious.
