And thanks for the link ladyjane, I also am going to try this on my own hair. My hair takes a beating, because we have well water and I get color so it's awful for colored hair... plus it almost makes me feel like there's a film of iron on it. Then added pool water on top of it. I try to get a well water treatment every few weeks.. which does help.

Welll...umm.. tis why I suggested about the oil/conditioner with lake water. I don't know if your Dad would like some conditioner in the hair and then - the dog or you goes in the water. Maybe try a search on safe conditioning products to put in your hair for the pool water. When I swim I do condition my hair - but I use I skintight bathing cap. Don't think they make one of those for dogs though
