I work with fosters and rescues so, first I want to say thank you for wanting to give an older dog your love and a good home. I wish we had more people that would do that. It seems like you are providing a good safe environment.
Before we retired, we set up a web cam so we could check in on our(2) Yorkies, We were surprized that our dogs sleep almost the whole time we are gone. Now that we are retired, one of us is home almost all the time (now we have 5 dogs LOL) And they still nap most of the day. Your new baby will adjust. Best wishes and Welcome to YT.
