I, too, am at home with Harry all day (or he's out with us!) but our last dog (Rosie the labrador) was left at home during the day while we worked.
It worked very well for us - apart from
my own guilt. She didn't bark, or chew, or do anything naughty - but I must admit I would
never do it with our Harry - he's a totally different character and I know it wouldn't work...but that's just him, not
all Yorkies
Plus he's that much younger.
What we did do was organise for someone to come in every day, at lunchtime - really just to break her day up and spend an hour with company. Either my daughter would come home from school, or there were a couple of neighbours I could get involved, or I would pay a pet-sitter...
