I just keep going back to the yorkie because they are so darn cute and fun!! Both of us work full-time, so the dog would be alone mon-fri 8a-4:30p -- in a gated off breakfast room (tile floor) about 10' x 12', with french doors looking into backyard, crate, puppy pads, food/water, lots of toys, and radio playing. We would of course give the dog lots of love, attention, walks, and play in the evenings and weekends. I've read other posts on here, that yorkies in general can do ok if left home alone -- i do know the ideal would be for a dog to be around his owners all day, but we can't be the only people who want to have a small dog, but must work outside the home.

I'd love to hear from any who successfully make this work -- and if you encountered issues with the dog (again, an adult dog) chewing up woodwork/trim or becoming anti-social from being alone. (note that getting two dogs is not an option at this time, but down the road would like to have two dogs). Thanks for your advice!!

hi , welcome and congrats on your soon to be new addition.
Sorry i wont be much help in the advice dept though as i have 3 dogs and i am a stay at home wife but when i lived on my own i had dogs and they stayed home alone while i was at work.
They were all pefectly fine.
Like you said in your post the dog will have a lovely room , can see outside into the yard and have all he needs.
Honestly i do think two dogs keep each other company but if that is not something you are able to do then i believe as long as the dog gets plenty of attention and exercise when you are home he will be ok.
