I used regular Bounce fabric softener sheets.

I shampooed the area with my little Bissell portable carpet cleaner, let it dry, sprayed a vinegar solution I mix with water (1/2 white vinegar with 1/2 water) and let it dry, vacuumed the area and then rubbed the entire area with the Bounce dryer sheet. This worked for me and the carpet smelled really nice. It worked for me......hope it works for someone else.
