In my considerable experience with byb's, if someone is determined to be a byb and is suddenly interested in getting good lines with champions, their reason for doing so is to get higher prices and increase saleability of their puppies not for the betterment of the breed. No matter what information they are told about what a reputable breeder is and does, about breeding to the breed standard, about showing your dogs, it is so rare that a byb will be willing to change their way of thinking. They think some champions in a pedigree will suddenly produce show dogs and they can sell them as such at whatever age to unsuspecting newbies that don't know it doesn't work that way.
On occasion, you do run into someone who didn't know and is eager to change but they usually had a passion for the breed, not a passion for breeding and selling puppies, and have a passion for the show rings. You can't instill a passion that is just not there.
If the sole purpose is breeding to sell puppies from the get go, it is not going to change because of the information throughout this forum or anywhere else for that matter. |
