Animal Smiley 019 Yorkie wont potty on anything other than grass. . .

My yorkie is 15 months old and has been potty trained outside only. I tried to use the potty pads when he was little and he just shredded them; so I just took him outside. He did very well! My problem now is that I just got a new job which sometimes requires me to be gone 12 hours a day. (only 3 days a week) I've never left him alone longer than 6-7 hours. He's able to hold his bladder for that long. . .but to expect him to hold his bladder 12 hours is pushing it. Not to mention how uncomfortable he would be. My daughter has been comming in mid day to help out . . but is not going to be able to do it anymore because of her work schedule. I tried the potty patch.. he wanted nothing to do with it!! I would really appreciate any advice on re-introducing the potty pads or maybe there is something else I can try! I really dont want any potty accidents on my carpet! I havent had any since he was 6 months old . . but do expect it if he has to be alone that long. I'm also looking for someone else to come in mid day. . . which is my number one solution. . but need a back up plan. Most people I know cant do it. Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!
