Yes, sometimes people do need to hear the truth.
It is hard for some people to understand that and they think the person speaking it is harsh when in reality the person is perhaps doing the other person a favor. Hopefully the woman went away upset and the words might hit home later. Never know.
But it sure beats praising her because then she learns nothing.
