I think you may have casted on wrong... there are a few different ways to do it... here's a way that looks easy to me:


The main difference between knit and purl is the direction the right needle enters the front loop of each stitch. Knit is front to back, Purl is back to front.


One for the knit stitch: (working end of yarn is behind the needles/away from you)



One for the Purl stitch: (working end of yarn is in front of the needles/toward you)
