My dogs never took to kennels either...like someone said above. Our oldest, Wylie, really doesn't like confinement. When he was 10 mths old, he CHEWED thru a baby gate, I kid you not.
It's a tough call.
We sleep w/ all 3 of our babies, and I don't know how you feel about doing that in your house. What about instead of a cage, you try a little play pen area/fenced area near your bed?
