Star Meet Teaka!

Hello everyone, newbie here. My name is Kelly and my YT is named Teaka. She is a little over 3 years old now. Shes overweight at the moment and I'm trying (okay, more like determined) to get her to an appropriate weight. She was eating TOTW until yesterday, and now slowly integrating Blue Buffalo Wilderness Healthy weight. Shes not really a fan of it, then again she doesn't really like chicken, but its a work in progress.

Teaka is a couch potato to the max, which is probably why she is overweight. So i'm playing with her inside (as its been raining here) as much as I can when I get home from work. She is such a cute lil thing. I'll post pictures soon. She is almost bleach blonde on her head. She is slate blue on her body with some silver mixed in, and her legs, tan.

She is an allergy dog. Has been for about a year now. It just popped up out of the blue. She started loosing her hair, had black patches on her skin. She was itching everywhere. It was a mess. I'm not entirely sure what she is allergic to, but she has been on Atopica for almost a year. (Immune suppressant drug) and as of yesterday she has been on Claritin per the vet. Her fur has grown back and she actually needs a hair cut. I keep her in a puppy cut as she isn't a show dog and its just easier for my lifestyle.

Teaka is what I like to call, rugged. She is not the type to be carried around everywhere. Doesn't wear bows, or hide in large purses. She doesn't wear clothes, only a jacket/vest in the wintertime. She is the type of dog to go hiking, to maybe sit in a box while someone rides a bike.

She is a major barker. Its something I'm looking into correcting. Although at the moment it can wait. She is a major whiner too. I don't know why, but its a growing concern of mine. She just had a check up, so I'm thinking its behavioral.

I'll admit I'm the owner that purchased the dog because she was cute. I had no prior experience with YT's. I should of done my homework. The breed doesn't fit my lifestyle at all. However I am the type of person to follow through. Teaka is here now and I have learned a lot in the past 3 years. I am trying my best to give Teaka a happy and healthy life. I am not the type of person to put a dog up for adoption because of behavioral, allergies, aggression or any other issue. Teaka is part of the family and that is where she will stay!

I'm hoping by joining the forum that I can learn more, apply some new techniques for her, and show off my cute lil squirt!

Gotta go, back to work!
~Kelly
